Achieving gender equity sits at the core of a range of SDGs, but ambitions have often failed to translate into actions and impact at scale. After decades of piecemeal progress, including historic gains in women’s health and educational outcomes, COVID-19 and a lack of prioritization have contributed to backsliding in these and various other areas that have undermined economic opportunity, threatened security, and had cascading impacts on societies writ large. As the international community gathers for a seminal UNGA featuring the once-in-a-generation Summit of the Future, how can policymakers and stakeholders ensure that gender remains at the center of discussions, rather than being included as an afterthought? And how can innovative programs and emerging technologies unlock opportunity and access for women around the world? At FP’s inaugural Her Power Forum @ UNGA79, global gender experts, policymakers, and practitioners will discuss tangible solutions and actions to advance women’s equity and leadership.
This event will culminate in the premiere of a short documentary from Population Institute and a networking cocktail reception.
